The History of Women's Ice Hockey


Ice hockey was first played in Canada in the 1800's.
It was a very popular sport.Hockey was first played with a ball and a stick.
Women were not allowed to play hockey in the Olympics until the year of 1998.
Like in every game of Ice Hockey game there is always a fight. Yes, women fight too.

The rules of this sport are:
You can not hit each other in the head with a hockey stick.
In the beginning of the game the ref drops a puck in the middle
of the court and the hockey teams fight for the puck. This is called the "face off".
They are allowed 5 skaters and 1 goalie. There can not be more than 6 skaters on
ice during the game.

Who won the BIG game?


Team USA played in the Gold Medal game in Sochi in the 2014 Olympics. U.S.A played against Canada. The game was tied 0-0 and
Canada scored in the first quarter. It was now 1-0.Then it was
the second quarter we scored 1-1. It was tied! Then in the third period there was no more scoring.It was now time for overtime. We were
doing good, but then Canada scored. Now it was 2-1. We lost.

Who got medals?


When they gave out medals we got second place, woo hoo!!!!!! I was happy because the girls were great. At least they were top 3.
The medals they got were silver. Team U.S.A was very sad. Canada won the gold medal. U.S.A won the silver medal. Sweden won the bronze medal.
